Visual Arts
WHAT WE DO...
We design products, we mold clay, we capture the world on film, we broadcast, and make 3d models. We create, experience the process, and navigate through our creative imaginations. Whether the subject is Drawing and Painting, Graphic Arts, Photography, Video Production, or Ceramics, classes in the Visual Arts Program build technical skills and critical concepts to instill an artistic foundation. In our studios we collaborate, express ourselves, and discover how to be a lifelong advocate for the arts. Our goal is that each Northwood student leaves with a meaningful arts experience.
The Visual Arts Department is proud to offer a comprehensive program in: Drawing/Painting, Ceramics, Computer Graphics, Photography, Video Production, Screen Printing, Metal Arts, Design, and Art History. Students have the opportunity to advance through four levels of course work in nearly all studio courses culminating in Advanced Placement class. Students create art that is exhibited in the classroom, throughout the school and community. Each student enrolled in the visual arts exhibits his or her work in the Northwood’s Annual Night of the Arts. Throughout the year students have the opportunity to submit works to competitions such as: Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Imagination Celebration, Color it Orange, the Irvine Fine Arts Show, Laguna Arts Festival, and more.
