Senior Information

Information for 2020 Seniors

Dear soon-to-be graduates and parents:

As we move closer and closer to graduation, we wanted to share a few details. There are three weeks left and we are really hoping to get each of you to the finish line! As you know, we are planning your virtual graduation for June 4th at 6pm. We hope you will plan to put on your cap and gown and celebrate with your family. Details will follow with the specifics on the length of the program and how to access your ceremony.

Cap and Gown Distribution/Returns: Cap and gown distribution, as well as other graduation necessities, will take place on Friday, May 29th in the afternoon. Specific times and details for your TA will be sent out soon. At that time, we will also be asking seniors to return textbooks, instruments, sports equipment, or any other property that belongs to Northwood High School. Of course, we will continue to observe all social distancing guidelines and take every safety precaution! Please do your best to make it and if you cannot, we will provide make-up times prior to June 4th.

Professional Graduation Photos: We are pleased to provide an opportunity for graduates to take a professional graduation photograph with South Coast Photographic on June 4th and 5th on the NHS campus. This is a special opportunity for this year’s graduates only and we are excited to take advantage of our beautiful environment. Photos may be of just the graduate or the graduate and up to two family members. In order to provide a safe, clean, physically distanced environment, families will need to sign up for their preferred date and time using the Google form here. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred time. Families will be emailed appointment times the week of June 1. Photos will be available for purchase through South Coast Photographic (more information to follow).

Diploma Pick-up: After graduation, we will distribute diplomas as well as yearbooks (they are arriving late due to factory closures). We expect that this distribution will occur in mid-June. Please be on the lookout (email) for more details!

Grad Night: Unfortunately, due to the current conditions, Grad Night has been canceled. The Grad Night committee has initiated the refund process. If you paid through Paypal, charges will be reversed and all others will receive a check. This process will take some time, but if you have questions, please contact There continues to be interest in the possibility of another event later in the summer or fall. Details regarding this will be forthcoming.

We know this is not how we expected to end your senior year, nor your compulsory education. We encourage you to personalize the night of graduation with any family traditions and we will continue to do what we can to make this time as special as possible. Our students were clear in their survey that what they were looking forward to most about graduation was to see everyone, and we wish we could make this happen in a live forum. For now, we will do our best to celebrate from afar and hope for a summer or fall option to celebrate together in person!
