Northwood students are able to enroll in dual enrollment courses at local community colleges such as Irvine Valley College, Saddleback College, Santiago Canyon College, Santa Ana College, and Orange Coast College, to name a few. It is important to note that NHS students are able to enroll in up to eight total classes per semester (at NHS, San Joaquin, ROP, and community colleges). For more specific information about NHS academic policies and concurrent instruction, please refer to our Program of Studies. IVC Dual Enrollment courses and course descriptions for IUSD students can be found in the IVC Dual Enrollment Handbook.
Irvine Valley College
All interested students should complete the Special Admissions application process and then, complete the appropriate Dual Enrollment program form. There are two types of dual enrollment courses, College & Career Access Pathways and General Dual Enrollment, offered during the school year:
College & Career Access Pathways (CCAP)
Students interested in taking a CCAP course, should complete this Google Form to request enrollment in the CCAP courses listed below. Priority will go to students based on grade level (grade 12, then grade 11, then grade 10, then grade 9). Students will be informed of next steps if they are eligible to enroll in the course. The CCAP consent form needs to be completed once during a student's high school career. It is important that Northwood High School is selected on the form so that it is delivered and tracked to us for follow-up.
The following are CCAP courses for the 2024-2025 school year offered at Northwood HS and course descriptions, including UC-transferability, can be found in the IVC Dual Enrollment Handbook.

Obtaining School Approval for Dual Enrollment Courses
Once students complete the necessary application and get parent approval ELECTRONICALLY, the form will be emailed directly to the school for approval. In most cases, forms arrive the same day or within a day and are signed by the next school day. Please send the forms to Kortney Tambara at nhs-ivc@irvineusd.onmicrosoft.com.
If a PAPER approval form is required, students should drop the completed form off in the Main Office (at the reception desk) with all required information. Students can pick up the form the following day.
