The mathematics curriculum at Northwood High School is balanced and rich in both concept and skill development. It is designed to lead all students to a genuine understanding of mathematical relationships and how these relationships apply to their daily lives as we enter the 21st century. It provides access to powerful mathematics embedded in problems from all disciplines. Proficiency in computation, reasoning, seeing connections, and communicating mathematical understanding is the intended outcome for all students in all courses. Students will be placed in the curriculum at their appropriate mathematical level.

Students who wish to advance from Math 1 to Enhanced Math 2 must meet two out of three requirements:
- Earn As both semesters in Math 1
- Teacher appraisal
- Pass the End-of-Course exam with 85% or higher
Students who wish to advance from Math 2 to AP Precalculus must meet two out of three requirements:
- Earn As both semesters in Math 2
- Teacher appraisal
- Pass the End-of-Course exam with 85% or higher
