Visual Imagery

This class guides students through an in-depth exploration of photography as an art form. During the year-long course, you will work in depth in 5 different units giving you foundation skills in photography including Black and White Photography, Portraits, and Food Photography as well as providing experiences as they apply to the Visual Arts Standards; artistic perception, creative expression, historical and cultural context, aesthetic valuing, connection, relations, and application.

The Digital Arts curriculum has been written to align to the California State Standards for Visual Arts and qualifies as an acceptable UC A-G elective credit.

This course is part of the Coastline Regional Occupational Program which means that the course will provide you with skills and best practices to prepare you for a future career both in the photographic arts as well as in other chosen careers.

Advanced Visual Imagery

This intermediate level class continues guiding students through an in-depth exploration of photography as an art form while building upon the skills you acquired in the Visual Imagery class. During the year-long course, you will work in depth in 5 different units giving you advanced skills in photography and digital editing as well as providing new experiences as they apply to the Visual Arts Standards; artistic perception, creative expression, historical and cultural context, aesthetic valuing, connection, relations, and application.

AP Studio Art 2D Design (AP Photography)

This college-level course for juniors and seniors is designed for the highly motivated student who is disciplined enough to work independently in the creation of these works. Students will engage in an advanced study of photography culminating with the submission of a portfolio of work to the College Board. Students will concentrate their focus on the creation of 24 artworks in three aspects of the AP 2D-Design which include: Quality, Breadth, and Concentration. Throughout the course, students will develop mastery in their work through creating high quality concepts that not only use the elements of art and principles of design to achieve an excellent composition, but also showcase the student’s technical skills and their execution in creating their portfolio.
