JUNIOR YEAR HIGHLIGHTS

  • PSAT/ NMSQT (October)

    • All juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT. Juniors who earn top scores on the PSAT/NMSQT are recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program in the Fall of their senior year. 

  • Junior Family Night (Fall)

    • All juniors and their parents are invited to attend Junior Family Night. Admissions representatives from the UC, CSU, and Private/Independent College Systems will speak about their respective college system and engage in a Q&A.  
  • RACC Night (Spring)
    • NHS hosts representatives from a variety of out-of-state colleges. The evening begins with an engaging presentation followed by a college fair. Students have the opportunity to speak directly with college representatives.

  • Junior Presentations (Spring)

    • Counselors will present to all junior-level English classes to prepare students for post-high school planning, including the college application process.

  • 4-Year College Application Workshop for Juniors (May)

    • Counselors will provide an in-depth workshop for all juniors planning for 4-year college after school, specifically addressing what students can work on during the summer to prepare for their Senior Year fall college application process

  • Throughout the School Year

    • Juniors are invited to attend presentations from college representatives and career speakers at the College and Career Center.
    • Throughout the year, counselors are available to help students with any academic, personal/social, or college/career-related questions and concerns.
    • Prior to spring conferences, counselors will review all junior transcripts and update graduation/a-g worksheets. Updated documents will be shared with all juniors so that they know exactly which courses to request for their senior year.
