Detention Information

Detentions are earned when students have an unverified absence or cut. For every cut, a detention is assigned and for every three detentions, an Attendance Workshop is assigned. Students have one week to serve their detention.

Detentions can be served by one of the following options:

  • Attend classroom detention OR
  • Choose to work TWO LUNCH PERIODS with our custodians and submit confirmation OR
  • Serve one hour with a teacher who is willing to work with the student and submit confirmation

Classroom detentions are held in room 1026 on the following days and at various times to accommodate students’ schedules.  Students should arrive promptly and bring your school ID, writing utensil, and assignments to complete. Cell phones are not allowed during this time.

Lunch detentions: Students who wish to work during lunch and help our custodial staff should meet Ernie or Jerry in front of the Student Activities Center ten minutes after the start of lunch (12:15 on Monday or 12:20 Tuesday - Friday). Students who choose to work two lunch periods, should print out this form and complete it with the staff member with whom they served. Then, the student should submit it to the Attendance Office within the week the detention was assigned as proof that the detention was served.

Teacher detentions: Students can work with a teacher to serve detention if a teacher is willing. If students work with a teacher, they must print out this form and complete it with the staff member with whom they served. Then, the student should submit it to the Attendance Office within the week the detention was assigned as proof that the detention was served.

To avoid detention in the future, students should attend school daily and arrive on time to their classes.  In case of an absence, please remember that parents must call the Attendance Office or sign a note to submit to the Attendance Office within three days of the absence.
