How Can You Help in the Arts?
- Celebrate your student’s successes at current level of artistry, and discuss “next steps” for individual growth
 - Look for ways to transfer the Arts to the world around them
 - Acknowledge and support your student’s creative risk taking
 - Ask your student to share their art with you – finished or not
- Discuss their inspiration and what they are trying to express
 - Attend Performances and Exhibitions

 - Take part in Challenge Success (https://northwoodhigh.iusd.org/students/challenge-success)
 - Emphasize the NHS core values:
- Compassion
 - Integrity
 - Mutual Respect

- Creativity takes time – it cannot be rushed
- One cannot “cram” for Art
 - Embrace the Artistic Process
 - Celebrate the artistic and personal GROWTH, not just the end PRODUCT

 - Help your student make a plan to break projects up into manageable pieces
 - As in sports, a little practice every day is FAR more effective than a marathon practice session right before a deadline
 - Encourage your child to seek help during tutorial when needed
 - Advocate personal responsibility
 - Promote honesty and integrity
